The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area and surrounding communities following renewed attacks on the Bachama community, allegedly carried out by members of the Chobo community.

The latest violence comes less than a week after Governor Umaru Fintiri convened a security meeting with leaders of both communities in an effort to broker lasting peace.

When the crisis first erupted a few months ago, Governor Fintiri visited the two warring communities to assess the extent of destruction, which included burnt houses and damaged property. During the visit, he appealed to both sides to sheath their swords and embrace peace.

According to local sources, the fresh round of violence broke out on the night of Sunday, 7 December 2025, when heavily armed attackers invaded Waduku, Rigange, Tingo, and other nearby settlements, overwhelming the communities.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants were armed with weapons more sophisticated than those carried by the military personnel deployed to maintain peace. Many residents fled in panic, seeking safer locations as gunshots continued to ring out across the affected areas.

Following the attacks, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Morris Dankwambo, deployed additional operational personnel to the troubled communities to enforce the curfew and restore order.

He appealed to residents to refrain from actions capable of further disrupting the peace and security of the area.
