Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central, has invited Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers to attend a project commissioning event in her state — two months after returning from suspension.

Akpabio read Akpoti-Uduaghan’s invitation letter to the lawmakers during the plenary on Thursday.

In the letter, the senator said the project inauguration, scheduled for Sunday, November 2, in Ihima, Kogi state, would mark her second anniversary in the senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow distinguished senators to join me for project commissioning in Kogi state,” the letter reads in part.

She said the meeting point for the event would be her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi state.

Akpoti-Uduaghan added that senators travelling by air could land at the Obajana airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.

After reading the letter, Akpabio congratulated the lawmaker.

On February 20, Akpoti-Uduaghan engaged Akpabio in a heated debate over seating arrangements in the upper legislative chamber.

She later accused Akpabio of sexual harassment—a claim the senate president denied.

On March 6, the senate suspended her for six months following the adoption of the report by the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions.

Since her return to the legislative chamber on September 24 after serving the suspension, the senator has gradually re-engaged in legislative activities.

On October 18, she attended a legislative retreat organised by the ministry of solid minerals development.

Earlier today, Akpoti-Uduaghan sponsored a bill seeking to establish a National Centre for Autism and six zonal centres across Nigeria to promote early diagnosis, research, education, and care for persons with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
