The Lagos State Government has categorically denied any involvement in the recent demolition of structures on Sixth Avenue, FESTAC Town, clarifying that the exercise was not authorized by the state.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, made this known on Tuesday, October 14, in Alausa, stating that the state government had no hand in the demolitions.

Olumide stressed that Lagos follows a clear, transparent, and regulated procedure before bringing down any structure.

This process, he explained, includes giving all necessary statutory notices and engaging with people who may be affected.

The Commissioner urged all agencies, including federal bodies operating within Lagos, to always consult and obtain clearance from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development before carrying out any demolition.

“We want to assure residents that the Lagos State Government is committed to fairness, due process, and the protection of property rights,” Olumide said. “Any demolition done without proper authorization does not represent the position of this administration.
