Conditional Cash Transfer Programme: Ogun Government Warns Stakeholders Against Unscrupulous Elements

Stakeholders in charge of the National Social Safety Nets Programme Scale Up (NASSP-SU) popularly known as Conditional Cash Transfer to be wary of unscrupulous elements that may deter the success of the project aimed at alleviating poverty in the State and Country at large.

The Ogun State Head of Service Mr. Kehinde Onasanya who gave the charge at the stakeholders sensitisation meeting held at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta saying they must brace up against manipulators and other forms of unjust practices by the public.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, added that both the Federal and State governments would not relent in programme and policies that would alleviate poverty in the country.

“Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration in ogun state is ready to support and will never pay lip services to any programme and policies of the Federal government towards poverty reduction in Nigeria, therefore all stakeholders must maintain reputation of the State government and ascertain the beneficiaries of the programme” the HoS submitted.

Speaking, the Focal Person in charge of the programme, double as State Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Hon. Olufunmilayo Efuwape while appreciated the commitment of the stakeholders, stressed on the need to further sensitize the public through religion leaders across the churches, mosques as well as ward leaders in all the Local Governments.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Lateef Benson said all hands must be on desk for successful implementation of renew hope agenda of the Federal government.

Also speaking, State Programme Manager, Mrs. Funmi Baker added that the meeting was aimed at building and maintaining productive relationships and assess the level of interest, support and sustainability plan of the programme.

Responding, community leaders, Abeokuta South, Alhaji Adedamola Fatai, appreciated the coordinator’s effort to alleviate poverty in the country, assuring that beneficiaries would utilise the fund according to its purpose as well as creating more awareness on the programme.

Stakeholders at the meeting includes: Community Development Associations, National Orientation Agency, (NOA), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Security Personnel, and staff of National Identification Management Commission,( NMC) and Desk officers across 20 Local government areas.
