Addressing the nursing mothers and Pregnant women, Rtn ( Olori yeye) Catherine Bisayo Oyekan-Ogundeji, the
United President Rotary Club Abeokuta Metropolitan ( Metro) said the project which forms part of Rotary International intervention for the month of July is an annual event aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality rates by improving access to quality healthcare, promoting safe childbirth practices, and empowering communities to take ownership of their health.

She said Rotary Club is a Worldwide organization that works to decrease maternal and child mortality rates through various interventions, including providing immunizations and antibiotics, improving access to essential medical services, and supporting trained healthcare providers.

She said the project was part of the humanitarian services rendered by Rotary globally to communities.

Olori Oyekan-Ogundeji said the club sensitises both pregnant and nursing mothers to ensure they follow normal health directions during and after pregnancy and educate them on family planning and to be conscious of their health.

She said that the impact of the programme was to reduce maternal and child complications and to empower them financially.

“Our mission is to cater to women every year. The Maternal and Child project is one of the areas of the seven focuses of Rotary International. For this month’s Rotary International set aside to discuss, work, interface, care and carry out projects pertaining to maternal and child health care.

“Today, we are in Oke Ilewo Maternity Center to educate the nursing mothers on what they should do and eat during pregnancy and to empower them with envelopes, sanitary pads, and other consumables. These are the most things our mothers need.

“We are here to educate them on their well-being as nursing mothers and pregnant women who are the most aspect of this program,” she said.

The event which was held at Oke Ilewo Maternity and Health Center saw nursing mothers and Pregnant women receiving support and financial assistance to women who just put to bed.
