Knocks As Police Officer Caught Tying Ganduje’s Shoelaces, Video Trends

A police officer has sparked outrage on social media after a video surfaced showing him tying the shoelaces of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The video, which went viral on Monday, shows Ganduje standing while the unidentified officer kneels to adjust his shoe—a gesture that has triggered intense online criticism.

Many Nigerians questioned why a uniformed officer would engage in such a personal task, arguing it undermines the integrity and professionalism expected of law enforcement personnel.

While some speculated that Ganduje may have played a significant role in the officer’s life, others condemned the act outright as degrading.

One user, @og_cemoni, wrote: “Can he do the same for an ordinary citizen? He should respect his uniform, not age. Why is a policeman doing what a personal aide should?”

Another user, @kelvin_kertz, commented: “In Nigeria, police officers serve the poor as law enforcers, and the elite as errand boys. Looks like the Nigeria Police Force might soon add ‘nanny’ to its job description.”

Defending the act, @ayenielijahofficial suggested the officer may feel indebted to Ganduje: “You don’t know what Ganduje did for him. Some people will go to any length for those who uplifted them.”

But others, like @franknero400, saw it as a symptom of a larger issue: “This is how the APC government has reduced our security personnel to house boys. It’s shameful.”

The backlash comes weeks after another controversial video emerged showing Nigerian police officers accepting cash from a Chinese national.

That incident drew strong criticism and prompted the Force Headquarters to announce disciplinary measures against those involved.

Ganduje media aide reacted to trending video

Reacting to the development, a media aide to the APC national chairman, Aminu Dahiru Ahmad, defended the police officer.

The former governor’s aide said the video was being trending because his boss’s political opponents feel threatened by his principal’s recent successes.

He said they are doing that with the intention of creating disaffection.

Ahmad claimed that the police officer entangled the shoelace of Ganduje to ensure his safety, a development he said was testified by the eyewitnesses.

According Ahmad, Ganduje always treat his aides and domestic staff with utmost respect.
