Tinubu appoints bishop Kukah as pro-chancellor of Kaduna varsity

 

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Alongside Kukah, Tinubu also appointed other principal officers for the university. Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas will serve as the Vice Chancellor, Sanusi Gambo Adamu as the Registrar, Ibrahim Dalhat as the Bursar, and Prof. Daniel Abubakar as the University Librarian.

Additionally, the newly formed Governing Council includes Mr. Thomas Etuh representing the North Central region, Chief Fabian Nwaora for the South East, Prof. Femi Taiwo for the South West, and Zarah Bukar for the North East.

The appointments were made based on the distinguished careers and leadership experience of the selected individuals, reflecting their commitment to advancing education in Nigeria.

President Tinubu urged them to provide visionary leadership and lay a strong academic foundation for the university as it prepares to admit its first cohort of students in September 2025.

The Federal University of Applied Sciences, formerly known as Nok University, was recently taken over by the federal government
