Ijebu Ode, Ogun State – February 11, 2025: A brutal assault by armed police officers has left Mrs. Ogunsola Ololade, a resident of 19, Ijagun Road, Ijebu Ode, fighting for recovery after a violent invasion of her home on February 7, 2025. The attack, mirroring a similar incident in 2023, is believed to be part of an ongoing campaign targeting the family of embattled politician Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a group of armed police officers stormed Mrs. Ogunsola’s residence, reportedly searching for her brother, Hon. Somoye, a politician from Abeokuta South Local Government Area. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as the officers, armed and unrelenting, ransacked the house, leaving a trail of destruction. Mrs. Ogunsola, a middle-aged woman, bore the brunt of their aggression. She was viciously beaten, sustaining severe injuries, including a grievous wound to her left heel that has rendered her unable to walk. Bloodstains marked the floors of her home, a grim testament to the assault’s brutality.

“She was screaming, begging them to stop, but they wouldn’t listen,” a neighbor, who requested anonymity, recounted. “They kept shouting, ‘Where is Sheu?’ It was terrifying.”

Mrs. Ogunsola was rushed to a nearby hospital, the name of which has been withheld for her safety. It was reported that After two days of emergency treatment, she was transferred to another undisclosed medical facility outside Ogun State, for further medical care. Her condition was said to be critical due to the extent of her injuries.

This incident echoes a June 3, 2023, attack on the same residence, where Alhaja Somoye Adebimpe Monsurat, Hon. Somoye’s mother, and her grandson, Somoye Oluwatosin Khalid, were assaulted by police officers also searching for the politician. That raid left the family in shock, with significant property damage and injuries. The repeated targeting has raised questions about the motives behind these attacks, with many pointing to political vendettas.

Officers from Porogun Police Station visited the scene on February 7 to assess the situation. A senior officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed that investigations have begun to identify the perpetrators and uncover the reasons behind what appears to be a politically motivated assault. “We are working to ensure justice is served,” the officer stated. However, as of the time of this report, no arrests have been made, and the identities of the invading officers remain unknown.

The continued absence of accountability has left the Ijebu Ode community on edge. Residents are calling for swift action to protect the victims and bring the culprits to justice. As Mrs. Ogunsola battles her injuries, the question lingers: when will this cycle of violence against Hon. Somoye’s family end
