Salient Times Newspaper gathered that the Kano State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN AI Ahmad has launched the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) school-based sensitization program, using sports as a platform to reach young minds, today, 16th January 2025. The program kicked off at FAAN Secondary School Kano where the commander sensitized students and staff on the dangers of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of “catching them young.”

To make the event engaging and interactive, a Tug of War game was organized for both male and female students. The commander then visited Army Day Girls Secondary School, where he delivered the same sensitization lecture, followed by a basketball game among the students.

The final stop was the Rochas Foundation Schools, where another sensitization program was held, culminating in a football match. To test the students’ knowledge and retention, quiz competitions were conducted in each school. The winners received prizes sponsored by Gongoni Company Limited, the program’s sponsor.

This initiative is part of the State Commander’s efforts to eradicate drug abuse among young people, using innovative approaches like sports and education. By partnering with schools and engaging students in interactive activities, the NDLEA aims to build a stronger, healthier community.
