46th Annual Conference: Forestry Association To Meet In Osun, To Dissect Potentials in Agroforestry Business, Others

The Forestry Association of Nigeria is set for the 46th annual conference in Osun State, on 25th -30th November.

The conference with the theme ‘Forest and Tree Resources as Africa Next Gold: Is Nigeria Ready’? It will be declared open by the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The conference will among other things discuss opportunities for wealth creation on Agroforestry system, traditional roles of forest and tree resources in rural economies, industrial forestry, value addition and sustainable development, Forest investment, financing and private participation and lots more.

Professor Labode Popoola, a former Vice- Chancellor of Osun State University and Chief Executive Officer of African Forest Forum as the Keynote speaker.

The special guest of honour includes Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Honorable minister for the federal ministry of environment, Dr. Muhammed Mahmoud Abubakar, honorable minister for Agriculture and Food Security .

Forestry Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body for all foresters in Nigeria is a non governmental organization aimed at promoting best forestry practices that would enhance environmental sustainability, economic and societal wellbeing.

In a statement made available by the National Secretary of the Association, Prof. Olukayode Ogunsanwo FFAN, the conference will witness a convergence of stakeholders from the academia, the industry, ministries and end users.

His words: “OSUN 2024 which is the 46th Annual Conference of the Forestry Association of Nigeria is going to be one of the best if not the best in recent times. The state is ready and we are also ready”

“From the theme and the keynote speaker, it is evident that the conference is poised to set a new tone for forestry profession in Nigeria and harvest ideas towards maximising the benefits of the forests”.

Ogunsanwo further stated “ I can confirm to you that the National Organising Committee and the Local Organising Committee have mapped out plans and strategies to make all participants benefit maximally. Sessions for our stakeholders will also be available”.

Other highlights of the conference is the award of fellowship to distinguished members of the Association, Ogunsanwo hinted.
