Athlete Tobi Amusan has said she is ready to make an announcement more than a month after failing to make the final of the 100m hurdles at the 2024 Olympics which took place in Paris, France.

On August 9, Amusan came third in her heat running 12.55 seconds behind Grace Stark of the US who came first in 12.39 seconds and Bahamian Devynne Charlton who completed the race in 12.50 seconds.

The result meant she finished ninth overall and could not make it to the final.

The three-time (consecutive) Diamond League winner, two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, two-time African champion, and three-time African Games gold medallist, has participated in two Olympic Games (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020).

An Olympic medal has remained elusive for Amusan. Her closest attempt was a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics with a time of 12.60 seconds.

Fondly referred to as “Tobi Express,” the world record holder in 100m hurdles has been away from social media since her disappointing Olympics outing.

However, on Monday, she returned to social media, saying she had a big announcement to make on Independence Day.

“So much on my mind, so much to share. But finding the right words isn’t always easy. Here’s to those who have stuck with me through the thick and thin. Huge announcement on #October1st,” Amusan said
