The Minister Of Works, Sen. David Nweze Umahi has stated that the ministry is currently handling over 4000 ongoing projects with a funding deficit of N16 trillion

Work Minister disclosed this during press briefing on given detailed report of the federal ministry of works in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the road sector regards to marking one year in the office , stated that that the ministry is committed to completing several ongoing and abandoned projects in the country

Sen. Umahi , therefore noted that he projected a funding gap of N13 trillion to complete all inherited projects which could exceeding N16 trillion when updated to reflect current market conditions

Umahi expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of some projects. “We are not fully satisfied with the pace of work and are making every effort to expedite the construction and completion of these roads. The federal government has allocated N10 billion in the amended budget for this purpose. We are confident that the new infrastructure funds will facilitate the timely completion of these projects.”

Umahi also praised the work of local contractors. “A separate contract for a flyover has been awarded, and I am pleased with the performance of the indigenous contractor. Their work reflects the high standards we expect across the country.”
