The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reacted to a viral video of a police officer assaulting a woman inside the Edo state police command.

Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu shared the video of a police officer slapping a woman who challenged him for allegedly saying her father would die.

Gwamnishu wrote;

‘’Nothing is going to happen….. I will send you to hospital and I will admit you” while bragging, his superiors were watching.

This is happening at Ekpoma Divisional Police Headquarters, EDO State @EdoPoliceNG

I wish to draw the attention of @Princemoye1 @PoliceNG_CRU @PoliceNG to look into this case and ensure the victim gets justice.

When civilians abuse or assault officers, it takes @PoliceNG less than 48hrs to charge suspect to court. On this case, the girl did nothing. There was no reason for her arrest as no petition or statement was taking.”

Reacting to the video, Adejobi asked the Public Relations Officer of the Edo state police command to look into the incident and ensure necessary action is taken. He went on to state that police officers are not trained to slap civilians.
