Constitutional Lawyer, and Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent Electoral Commission in Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke has tasked Law students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta on how to excel in the law profession.

Dr Agboke said, while delivering a lecture at the Inaugural Dinner held for aspiring lawyers who are students of the College of Law, Chrisland University, that a lot goes into the making of a sound lawyer.

The lecture, titled “Pathway to a Successful Legal Career, was attended by Principal Officers of the University as well as luminaries from various shades of the legal profession in Nigeria.

Agboke harped on the need for the aspiring lawyers to understand the ethics of the profession both in theory and practice..

To him, what guarantees a successful law career is not just knowledge of the law, but also
the practice of law.

Agboke reiterated the need for the students to focus on their academics and avoid distractions from social media and peer pressures.

He told the students: “There is need for all of you to follow a pathway that will not only prepare you as renowned legal practitioners, well-grounded both in law and practice, but prepare you to become successful ones.

“This is so because in the business of the practice of law, there are lawyers and there are lawyers. Therefore, there is need to re-double your focus in order to excel.”

Agboke also charged the students to avoid needless distractions by peer pressure and social media.

She assured that the University Management would spare no effort to sustain the ideals of excellence for which the institution is renowned.

In his welcome Address, the Acting Dean/Provost of the College, Dr. Kayode Akinsola emphasized on the need for the students to take the bull by the horns from the beginning of their studies in the university.

Dr. Akinsola equally flaunted the array of facilities and quality of the Faculty at the Law College, saying Chrisland University is the place to be for aspiring lawyers who might be thinking of having Law degree in Nigeria.
