Police kill bandits terrorising Abuja communities

Several people have been feared dead and others injured after suspected herdsmen sacked the Adijah community in Ugbokpo, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday afternoon.

Salient Times learnt that the attackers stormed the village, which is located a few kilometres away from the Otukpo-Oweto Road and opened fire on residents, killing an unspecified number of villagers.

One of the community members told Our Correspondent that residents have fled to neighbouring villages.

A resident of the community told our reporter that the attackers operated freely for hours without any security operatives coming to challenge them.

He said, “They were just passing, and the moment the villagers sighted them, they opened fire on them.

“Unfortunately, while the operation lasted, there were no security personnel on ground to challenge them.

“The people you saw are running for their lives because the attackers have seen how vulnerable the village is and would likely come back again.

Just last night, they invaded Imana Ikobi in this local government and killed about four men.

“Our land is bleeding with no one coming to our aid,” the resident who spoke from his hideout in Obelle Ijaha told DAILY POST Thursday night
