Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has called on the Nigerian Air Force to sustain its onslaught on terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements across the country.

The governor made the call when he received the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Minna.

He commended the Air Force’s tireless efforts at curtailing their activities in the nation while acknowledging the tremendous help the Chief of Air Staff has rendered to Niger State, adding that his visit was a testament that the state is not forsaken.

While calling for continuous surveillance by the Air Force, he explained that the state government will continue to provide all the necessary support.

“The government is also working with all security agencies to make sure that all borders are tightened up to stop criminals from entering the state to perpetrate crime,” the governor stated, adding that the activities of artisanal miners are being curbed.

Gov Bago told Abubakar that the state government has set aside funds in the 2024 budget for the completion of the housing units he had earlier promised to the Air Force.

He then urged all security agencies to join the state’s agricultural revolution and engage in farming to tap into the riches inherent in agriculture in the state.

Chief of Air Staff Abubakar thanked the governor for his support and commitment to synergise with the Air Force in tackling insecurity.

According to him: “The Nigerian Air Force will not relent in its efforts and renewed vigour in bombarding terrorist camps in the state, and additional troops will be deployed to Niger State to strengthen the fight against terrorists.”

Abubakar noted that the Air Force will continue to work in synergy with other security agencies in its fight to end the insurgency in Niger State while commending Bago for his people-oriented policies, which he said aligned with the federal government’s approach to tackling insecurity.
