The incident was said to have occurred at about 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, along Eligbolo Road.

A resident of the area told journalists that they heard voices and people running, and suddenly a group of men suspected to be cultists started beating up a man.

“The cultists were beating a man and he was begging that early morning until the voice of the victim was no longer heard,” he said.

He added police arrived there later and made several arrests.

Another resident who chose to be anonymous said the residents woke to see the man’s corpse.

“It was very unfortunate that nobody came to assist him early that morning out of fear. The police came and saw the dead body,” he said.
