The Governor’s Wife, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru has expressed her readiness to partner with United Nations Population Fund UNPFA in eradicating human trafficking, gender-based violence, and harmful practices against vulnerable persons in society and to promote family planning.

Mrs Nwifuru, stated this when the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) paid a courtesy call to her office in Abakaliki.

The wife of the governor commended the development partner for their interventions in the reduction of social vices in society.

Mr. Arasu Jambuke-swaran, Programme Coordinator UNPFA said that the agency would use its technical resources to partner with her projects, billed to better the lots of Ebonyi people.

Jambuke-swaran who is also Head of Office, Cross River state, disclosed that the rate of Gender-Based Violence cases was over 50 per cent high and requested for a good working relationship to reduce the menace.

Mr Oke Nteigbanam, the UNPFA Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV Analyst, emphasised that it would support her projects to ensure zero tolerance in harmful practices, maternal mortality, GBV and family planning.

The courtesy call also had the Commissioner for Budget and Planning Mrs Chinwe Okah and some staff of the ministry.
