Ogun: Arrested suspected ‘serial killer’ bites policeman while trying to escape
The Police in Ogun State said they have arrested two suspected serial killers in the state, adding that one of them bit a police driver in an attempt to escape.
The suspects, it was learnt, were arrested on Sunday along the Papalanto axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta express road.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, identified the suspects as Esube and Osunmuyiwa Solomon, stating that they were arrested with one locally-made pistol loaded with cartridges.
According to Odutola, the suspects, who were travelling on an unregistered motorcycle, were flagged down by a police patrol team, led by Inspector Sunday Adeyemo, but they refused to stop.
The police spokesperson explained that the suspects were pursued and arrested alongside a passenger, Omowunmi Fiyakola.
“Esube refused to adhere to the flag down of the police and raced off.
“He was pursued and arrested, upon search, one locally fabricated pistol loaded with cartridges was found and recovered from his cross-body bag.
“He was violent with the driver of the police vehicle, by struggling with the steering in a bid to escape, he equally gave the police driver a poisonous bite on his right finger, which led to a tyre burst and the vehicle losing control and its tyres.
“Esube attempted to take to his heels, but was maimed on his right thigh, eventually taming him to submission and the policemen captured him at the police station,” Odutola said in a statement on Wednesday.
She disclosed that the man confessed to “being a member of a notorious confraternity and that the unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was stolen by him.”
It was said that the suspects would be charged in court with murder, stealing and possession of firearms
