Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has applauded Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its performance during the last Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections.

IPAC while addressing press on the outcome of the 2023 governorship and State Assembly elections in Ogun State said INEC conduct during the last Saturday elections was encouraging and one of the best organised one.

The State Chairman of IPAC and People’s Redemption Party State Chairman, Mr. Samson Okusanya, who read the IPAC address and surrounded by other members and their gubernatorial candidates said those who were unhappy with the outcome have every right to pursue their grievances in a legal way rather than setting the State on fire.

The IPAC who specifically commended INEC for the early mobilisation of both human and material resources at various polling units across the state, said the last governorship election was better organised than the previous elections.

He noted with delight how the early transmission of results from most of the polling booths in the state helped to validate the integrity of the electoral exercise.

“We commend INEC for early commencement of voting in majority of the polling units in Ogun State. We also commend INEC for the early transmission of results in most of the constituencies in the state.

But the organisation frowned on the conduct of the Governorship candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, saying that his conduct during and after the poll is inimical to the peace of the State.

Rather than going on the streets to disturb the peace of the State and instigating the people against government, IPAC believes that the best way of showing ones grievances is through the court of law.

There can only be one governor in the State, and out of the arrays of the candidates, only one person will return elected, so whoever has issue must not drag innocent residents of the State their political ambition.

Why we are addressing this press briefing is to appeal to candidates who thought that they are been cheated to seek legal means rather than protest.

We can confidently say that on Our part, the election was free, fair and we support every outcome of the election as announced by INEC.

While congratulating Prince Dapo Abiodun on his re-election, he warned the PDP and ADC candidates to tow the line of honour by seeking the legal means rather than engaging in street protests or inciting the public against the constituted authority.

IPAC stated: “We congratulate the winners Prince Dapo Abiodun, his victory is a refreshing one to every common man.

We want to make this known to Nigerians that everything as stipulated by the Electoral Act has come to play.

“It is a very serious development in the political terrain of Nigeria, so we thank the political actors and the electorate for the successful conduct of the elections, ” IPAC said.

, “In elections like this, one candidate will emerge as the winner and anyone that lost out should follow due process which is recognised by law to express their grievances if there is any at all, instead of creating unrest in the state and causing violence.

“We advise them (Adebutu and PDP), as inter-party advisory council, to shun violence. They should also remember that nobody is above the law.

“We want peace and progress of the state. The losers should due process and tow the line of honour to express their grievances and concerns.

“All the registered political parties that are here with their governorship candidates hereby accept the outcome of the governorship and House of Assembly election as announced by INEC.”
