Debola Daniel, the differently-abled son of former Ogun state governor, Gbenga Daniel, has shared a piece on the plight of differently-abled persons in Nigeria.

With particular reference to how concerts are being done in Nigeria, Demola stated that being a disabled person in Nigeria is ”lonely, scary and isolated place”. He stated that when planning for major events, people like him are never put into consideration. He stated that even with government infrastructures, the plight of physically challenged persons is never put into consideration.

Demola stated that he can not count how many times he has been made to feel less of a person whenever he uses the airport. He said that if he as a ‘rich and powerful Nigerian’ can be treated like a ”suitcase” whose voice is stripped away by the actions and inactions of people who never consider persons like him, what then happens to the average disabled Nigerian out there.

He stated that one day, he would like to see accessibility and inclusion of persons with disability in planning and not just as an afterthought.
