Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2023, Pastor Tonye Cole, has purchased the party’s N50 million nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship election next year.

Tonye Cole, who was the governorship candidate of the APC in 2019 and 2023 and lost the election to Peoples Democratic Party’s Nyesom Wike and Sim Fubara respectively, bought his form on Tuesday.

This time, Cole will be battling it out with the incumbent governor, Fubara in the party’s governorship primaries.

Meanwhile, to fight it out with the sitting governor of Abia State, Alex Otti in 2027, Mascot Uzor Kalu, brother of former Governor of Abia, Orji Uzor Kalu, also purchased the N50 million APC governorship nomination forms on Tuesday to contest in the 2027 Abia Governorship election.

Orji Kalu, who is now the Senator representing Abia North, was a two-term governor of Abia State.

Governor Otti is one of the few governors who have refused to dump the political parties on which they were elected to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In Rivers, Governor Sim Fubara would hope to return to the government house in 2027 despite the internal and external battles he has fought in his first term.
