..Congratulates Iperu on maiden carnival
…Describes honour as well-deserved recognition of excellence
The first female Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, has congratulated her longtime friend and associate, Dr. Mrs. Joke Pero Sofowora, on her appointment as Eyo Ambassador for the maiden Eyo Carnival in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
The carnival is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 25, 2026, marking a significant cultural milestone for the historic town.
In a statement made available to journalists by Temitope Oyekan, Consultant on Media to Dr. Madein, Madein expressed delight over Sofowora’s appointment, describing it as a fitting recognition of her dedication, professional excellence, and commitment to community development.
She noted that Sofowora’s achievements over the years have distinguished her as a worthy ambassador of culture and tradition.
“I am truly thrilled to celebrate this remarkable and well-earned honour with you, my dear friend. Your appointment is a confirmation of your dedication, excellence, and enduring commitment to community development,” Madein stated.
The Accountant-General further highlighted the enduring bond between her and Sofowora, noting that their relationship has been built on years of mutual support and shared aspirations.
Providing insight into Sofowora’s background, Madein described her as a seasoned professional with a rich academic and career profile.
Sofowora, an indigene of Iperu from the Ibowu axis, began her educational journey at St. John’s Catholic Primary School and Christ Apostolic Grammar School, both in Iperu.
She later obtained a National Certificate of Education in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Ibadan, before earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of Lagos.
She also holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Lagos State University, Ojo.
Professionally, Sofowora has worked as an Operations Supervisor at the Federal Mortgage Bank and later as a Manager at the Federal Mortgage Finance.
Driven by entrepreneurial vision, she founded Boltek Systems Limited, an information technology company, where she currently serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to her corporate engagements, she has contributed to national development as a training consultant to the Federal Ministry of Industry, facilitating office automation programmes.
Madein expressed confidence that Sofowora’s vast experience and network would boost the global visibility of the Eyo cultural heritage.
She also used the opportunity to congratulate the people of Iperu Akesaland, both at home and in the diaspora, on the maiden edition of the Eyo Carnival.
Describing the event as historic, Madein commended the planning committee for its efforts in organising what she termed a landmark cultural celebration.
She reiterated the cultural significance of Iperu, noting that the town is widely regarded as the origin of the Eyo tradition.
According to her, hosting the carnival in Iperu further reinforces its historical and cultural importance.
The Accountant-General, who is also the Founder and Chairperson of the Olowo Oloye Foundation, offered prayers for unity, peace, and sustained development in the community.
She expressed optimism that the carnival would not only promote cultural heritage but also attract tourism and investment to the area.
The maiden Eyo Carnival is expected to draw dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond, positioning Iperu as a focal point of cultural renaissance in Ogun State.
