..Appoints Oyedele, Darma as replacements
..Says reshuffle will be continuous under Renewed Hope Agenda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), removing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

Their replacements, Taiwo Oyedele and Muttaqha Rabe Darma, have been named as new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, respectively.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

According to the statement, the reshuffle was conveyed through a memo signed by Akume, directing the outgoing ministers to complete all handover processes on or before April 23, 2026.

Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, will now take charge of the nation’s finance ministry, while Darma steps in as the incoming helmsman of the housing ministry, pending full assumption of office.

Explaining the rationale behind the changes, the SGF said the decision was aimed at strengthening coordination and improving service delivery across key sectors of the economy.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance, as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Akume stated.

He added that the President acted in accordance with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empower him to appoint and reassign members of the Federal Executive Council.

The statement, however, did not indicate the next assignments for the outgoing ministers.

In a significant note, the Presidency signalled that the reshuffle may not be a one-off move, as Tinubu emphasised that cabinet reinvigoration would be a continuous process.

Akume said the President has assured members of the cabinet that further changes could be made in line with the administration’s governance priorities.
“The process of reinvigoration shall be continuous,” he said.

Tinubu also expressed appreciation to Edun and Dangiwa for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.
