A chieftain of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ogun State, Hon. Shokunbi O. Kazzem, has extended New Year felicitations to the people of Ogun State and Nigerians across the country.

Hon. Sokunbi, in his New Year goodwill message, called for renewed commitment to peace, unity and mutual respect as citizens transition into a new calendar year.

The ADP leader described the New Year as a moment for reflection, urging Nigerians to rededicate themselves to values that promote national development.

According to him, the country can only move forward when people coexist peacefully and accommodate one another regardless of religious, ethnic or political differences.

“I congratulate my brothers and sisters on this New Year celebration,” Sokunbi said, noting that Nigeria’s progress depends on citizens choosing peace above personal or group interests.

He reminded Nigerians that stability, security, and peaceful cohabitation remain essential for individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Hon. Sokunbi, who was the ADP Governorship Candidate in the 2023 Ogun State election, urged citizens not to lose hope in the nation despite current challenges.

He appealed to Nigerians to channel their energy into actions that strengthen unity, while discouraging acts capable of fueling division or tension.

Sokunbi also encouraged residents of Ogun State and Nigerians nationwide to pray for the country’s leaders at all levels of government.

He stressed that leadership requires collective support, adding that goodwill, constructive criticism and prayer are vital for the success of those in office.

“The New Year presents us an opportunity to love, share and forgive,” he stated, urging citizens to promote values that heal and unite.

He advised Nigerians to uphold virtues such as humility, patience, kindness, and compassion, describing them as key tools for building a stronger society.

Sokunbi emphasized that a prosperous Nigeria cannot be achieved through conflict but through cooperation and mutual understanding.

He encouraged citizens to extend acts of charity to the vulnerable, especially at a time many families are struggling with economic hardship.

“Let us spread love to our neighbours and remember the underprivileged as we celebrate,” he said, urging communities to be more intentional about helping one another.

The ADP chieftain stressed that values such as honesty, faith in God, and responsible living should be visible in the conduct of every citizen in the New Year.

He reminded Nigerians that the country’s progress does not rest on the shoulders of government alone but on the collective effort of the people.

Sokunbi further appealed for prayers for leaders at local government, state, and federal levels to guide them in decisions that affect national wellbeing.

He concluded with a call for national interest to take priority above partisan politics, personal rivalry, or divisive rhetoric.

“This season is another opportunity to increase our acts of kindness and touch the less privileged in our society,” he affirmed, wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
