The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the no-case submission filed by Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in an alleged N5.2 billion fraud case.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had identified elements of the offence, requiring Ojerinde to enter a defence.

Ojerinde was arraigned in July 2021 on 18 counts of corruption charges, accused of diverting funds from government coffers while heading JAMB and NECO.

The ICPC alleged that he conferred corrupt advantage upon himself, violating various laws.

Justice Egwuatu held that the prosecution had established its case, dismissing Ojerinde’s no-case submission.

“The no-case submission fails and is dismissed,” the judge said, ordering Ojerinde to enter his defence.

The case has been adjourned until July 16 for hearing, as Ojerinde prepares to defend himself against the allegations.

The outcome of this case could have significant implications for the former JAMB registrar.
