The new Fellows, Mr. Niyi Oduwole and Mrs. Taiwo Akintomide, were inducted alongside other eminent public relations professionals on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 at a historic investiture ceremony held at the Ceedapeg Hotels, Uyo.

In recognition of their outstanding contributions and achievements, delegates from Ogun State Chapter of NIPR gathered on Friday at the Rehoboth Hotels and Suites in Uyo and celebrated both Oduwole and Akintomide for attaining the status of Fellow.

In her welcome remarks, the Chapter Chairman, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, congratulated the duo for being selected after a rigorous screening of candidates aspiring for the NIPR Fellowship by the Fellowship Advisory Committee of the professional body.

Boye noted that becoming a Fellow was no mean feat as it was the climax in the Institute’s professional progression.

She explained that the prestigious honour was more significant for the Chapter because it had not produced any Fellow in recent years.

The Chairman saluted the delegates for conducting themselves well throughout the NPRW 2025 and charged them to continue to imbibe best practices in the discharge of their duties to the Institute and beyond.

She equally applauded members of the Chapter, who actively participated in the NIPR Diamond Anniversary celebration held last year which, she noted, earned the Chapter a Merit Award as the Best in Diamond Anniversary Engagement.

“The success of the Diamond Anniversary Award is for everyone and not for the Chairman and Exco members alone. I want to charge you to keep pushing to break barriers. Let us be united as one happy family. Also let’s be reminded that the present Executive Council members will some day end their tenure. Therefore, let’s warm up to take over the mantle of leadership in the Chapter,” she remarked.

Boye also used the occasion to highlight some of the transformation recorded under the administration of the NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, and solicited the continued support of members for the national leadership.

Responding, Mrs. Akintomide, a Director at the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, reflected on her journey in the NIPR which she joined in 1995, and expressed gratitude to the delegates for identifying with her and her counterpart during a momentous occasion, marking a significant milestone in their careers. She assured of her readiness to mentor the upcoming public relations professionals, urging them to prioritise academic and professional development in order to remain relevant in the industry.

Also speaking in the same vein, Mr. Oduwole, the Deputy Registrar in charge of Corporate Affairs Division at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, who joined the Institute in 1992 and became a full member in 2001, appreciated the delegates for honoring them and acknowledging their commitment to professional excellence. He rededicated himself to supporting the Chapter in achieving its set objectives in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Institute.

Lending his voice, a veteran in the profession, Mr. Dara Adebimpe, enjoined members to attend meeting regularly, participate actively in the activities of the Chapter and support the leadership to continue to deliver on its mandate.

One of the Ogun NIPR delegates, Mr. Olumayowa Osikanmi, while giving the vote of thanks, commended the new Fellows for their longstanding leadership and mentorship, saying the Chapter would look forward to seeing the continued impact of their work in the years to come.
