Epe LG Chair Hails Upgrade Of Hospital To FMC

The Chairmen of Epe Local Government, Ms. Surah Animashaun has said that the upgrade of Epe General Hospital to Federal Medical Centre is a crucial step in addressing the healthcare needs of Epe division and would attract infrastructure development and create employment for the teeming youths.

The Chairperson stated this in Epe while thanking the Federal Government-led President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, aftermath of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Ministry of Health and its Lagos State counterpart for the handover of the Epe Hospital to the Federal Government for conversion to FMC.

She said that the Lagos Trauma Conference has marked a significant milestone for Epe General Hospital, upgrading it to a Federal Medical Center, noting that the upgrade is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Lagos State and Epe’s prominent figures, who have been working tirelessly to advance specialized medical care for Epe residents.

She appreciated the Gov. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-olu, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, Oba Sefiu Adewale Bamgbopa Eshinlokun 1, Alhaji Sakiru Akanni Seriki Bamu, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Hon. Wale Raji for their efforts in achieving the giant strides.

“Indeed, this upgrade and expansion of healthcare services aim to make Epe a medical tourism destination, transforming healthcare delivery in Lagos State and the presence of a FMC represents hope for patients battling illnesses beyond the capacity of secondary healthcare, brings comfort for families in distress and increases the possibility of a healthier future for many more citizens within the state.

“The FMC would attract skilled healthcare professionals to the area, fostering a better healthcare environment. This influx would enhance the overall quality of care, leading to better health outcomes and increased life expectancy for the local population.” Animashaun said

Chairperson praised President Tinubu for considering Epe Local Government among the local council having new FMC as she charged residents and traditional rulers of Epe division and its environs to do all things necessary to ensure security of lives and property in the area, noting that a new General Hospital will be constructed in Epe to replace the old one.

She added that the Federal Medical Centre, Epe, will offer various specialized services, including; Paediatric care with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Medical ICU for critical care, Advanced surgical procedures, Specialized obstetric and gynaecological care and State-of-the-art emergency and trauma center, to mention but a few.

It should be recalled that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-olu and the Hon. Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa performed the handover ceremony, formalizing the upgrade with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government.
