Ogun State government has vowed to extend the Lagos Blue Line Metro Rail Project into the border towns of Ogun State while assuring that it will also improve on the infrastructural development of the State.

The Economic Adviser to the Ogun State Governor and the Commissioner of Finance, Mr Dapo Okubadejo made this known on Monday while engaging the media on the highlights of the State 2024 budget held at Olusegun Osoba Press center, Abeokuta.

Okubadejo who was joined by some Commissioners in the State said the government will surpass the 2023 budget in terms of implementation.

He said the 2024, is focusing on the construction of infrastructure at the various economic development clusters, while extending the Lagos Blue Line Metro Rail Project into Agbara and ensuring the well extension of the Lagos Red Line Metro Rail Project to Ijoko and Ifo/Kajola in line with the execution of the State’s multi-modal transport plan under the Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Commission initiative.

Okubadejo said the 2024 budget which is put at N703.03billion, tagged “The Budget of Sustained Growth and Development,” is made up of N287.37 billion Recurrent and N415.66 billion Capital expenditures.

He explained that N95.05 billion will be used for Personnel Costs, N27.35 billion as Consolidated Revenue while N59.09 billion will go for Public Debt Charges.

Speaking further, Okubadejo said the resultant economic indices from various policies put in place since Governor Dapo Abiodun came into office in 2019, have shown that Ogun State, has been positioned to be the model for industries, logistics, knowledge and innovation.

Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, whlie speaking informed that the yearly budget performance of the state recorded tremendous improvement due to the visionary, exemplary leadership and support of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Mr. Olabimtan said the state economic team was strategic about management of debts for survival and development purposes, adding that the present administration would continue to strive towards achieving the sectoral global benchmarks.
