In line with it’s annual free eye care programme , the Lions Club, District 404 B4 Nigeria with the support of Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organization (ROMO), Ogun state chapter on Thursday provided free eyes treatment for not less than 600 residents of Abeokuta.

The free eyes treatment took place at the ROMO secretariat in Abeokuta as part of the core mandates of Lions Club Nigeria tagged 2023 Sight Preservation Awareness.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the State Chairman, Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organization (ROMO), Alhaji Razaq Sotayo harped on the need to embark on regular eyes check up.

The ROMO boss commended Lions Club for the initiative, stressing that the gesture would enable the less privileged in the society to have proper treatment for their eyes.

According to Solebo, many people have irregular short-sightedness and long-sightedness, which if not promptly managed, may result to glaucoma or cataract.


Solebo, therefore, called on philanthropists and well-to-do individuals to support Lions Club for the benefit of the downtrodden.

Also speaking, the Chairman, 2023 Sight Preservation Awareness Abeokuta axis of Lion District 404 B4 Nigeria, Lion Abiodun Akintande said the programme was organized for people with sight problem but not financially capable.

Akintande maintained that, the free eyes service include test, treatment, free medication, and distribution of eyeglasses.

He added that, four people diagnosed with cataracts or glaucoma would be given free surgery.

In his remark, the first Vice District Governor, Lions Club District 404 B4, Mr. Taiwo Fatoki, emphasized that the club also embarked on cancer treatment and diabetes.
