…Nenadi and Abure camps unite under one platform
…Party vows to challenge ‘recycled politicians’ in Ogun

The Labour Party in Ogun State has resolved its lingering leadership crisis, with rival factions in the party agreeing to work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reconciliation was formally announced on Monday during a press conference held in Abeokuta, where leaders of the previously divided camps presented Hon. Mojisola Oluwaseun Ajayi as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the Nenadi Usman faction, Apagun Olaolu Samuel, said both groups had come to the realization that internal divisions would only weaken the party’s chances of achieving its political objectives in Ogun State.

According to him, members of the party share a common vision of rescuing both Nigeria and Ogun State from poor governance and therefore must remain united to achieve meaningful electoral success.

Samuel noted that the decision to reunite was driven by the need to build a stronger political platform capable of presenting credible and compassionate leaders to the people.

He said the party had agreed to operate as one body and one family, stressing that unity remained essential for victory in the 2027 elections.

“We all share the same vision of saving Nigeria and Ogun State. A divided house cannot stand, and that is why we have resolved to work together as one party,” he stated.

He added that the party would prioritize the emergence of competent and service-oriented candidates rather than what he described as recycled politicians.

Samuel explained that after extensive consultations, party stakeholders unanimously endorsed Hon. Mojisola Oluwaseun Ajayi as the Labour Party’s standard-bearer for the Ogun State governorship race.

He described Ajayi as a woman of integrity, character and compassion, with the capacity and commitment to provide effective leadership for the state.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Abure faction in Ogun State, Oluwabukunola Soyoye, described the reconciliation as a major milestone for the party.

She said the decision to end factional disputes was taken in the overall interest of the party and the people of Ogun State.

According to Soyoye, the prolonged internal disagreements had become counterproductive and threatened the party’s ability to present a formidable challenge in future elections.

“Fighting ourselves is like siblings punching themselves. It is worthless. We have decided to come together as one big Labour Party family and focus on the task ahead,” she said.

She further disclosed that the party intends to adopt a consensus approach in selecting candidates for other elective positions across the state.

The Labour Party leadership expressed confidence that the renewed unity would strengthen its grassroots structures and improve its electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 polls.

Party leaders also called on members across the state to embrace the reconciliation process and work collectively towards achieving the party’s goals.

In her acceptance speech, Hon. Mojisola Oluwaseun Ajayi expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in her.

She pledged to justify the trust placed in her by working diligently with stakeholders across the state.

Ajayi assured supporters that she would remain committed to the ideals of the Labour Party and provide issue-based leadership throughout the campaign period.

She also promised to collaborate closely with party faithful to build a strong movement capable of securing victory in the 2027 governorship election.

The development marks a significant step in the Labour Party’s preparations for the next electoral cycle as it seeks to position itself as a viable alternative in Ogun State politics.
