The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Command, Makurdi, Benue State in North Central Nigeria Dankombo F. Morris, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening collaboration with critical government institutions in order to enhance peace, security, and sustainable development across the state.

AIG Dankombo made this known during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority at the Authority’s headquarters in Makurdi.

The visit, which brought together members of the Zone 4 Police management team and the management of the River Basin Authority, focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, improving security around critical infrastructure, and fostering a safer environment for socio-economic activities within Benue State and the adjoining areas under the Zone 4 Command.

Speaking during the meeting, AIG Dankombo emphasized that strategic partnerships between security agencies and public institutions remain essential in addressing emerging security challenges and promoting national development.

He noted that effective policing thrives on collaboration, intelligence sharing, and mutual support among stakeholders.

According to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, the AIG commended the management of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority for its consistent support and cooperation with the Police Command over the years.

He assured the Authority of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical government facilities within the zone, stressing that adequate security remains necessary for institutions to effectively carry out their developmental responsibilities.

The AIG further stated that the Police would continue to strengthen surveillance and operational strategies around key government installations and major access routes in order to curb criminal activities and ensure public safety.

Responding, the Managing Director of the Authority, Engr. Terese Ninga, expressed appreciation to the AIG and his team for the visit, describing the relationship between the Police and the Authority as cordial and productive.

He commended officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force for their professionalism, dedication, and sustained efforts in maintaining law and order within and around the Authority’s facilities.

Engr. Ninga noted that the deployment of security personnel along the highways and strategic locations around the institution has significantly contributed to the reduction of criminal activities, thereby improving safety for workers, residents, and commuters in the area.

He further stressed that security remains the foundation for meaningful development, adding that no society can achieve economic growth and infrastructural progress in an atmosphere of insecurity.

The Managing Director assured the Zone 4 Command of the Authority’s continued support and commitment towards deepening the existing partnership with the Nigeria Police Force for the collective good of all citizens.
